Janson + Abigail are close friends on mine and my family’s. So, when they got engaged, it gave me great joy to be hired to do floral design at their wedding!

Blue Organic Wedding Floral Design
After a little bit of planning, Janson + Abigail chose the Turnbull Building, in downtown Chattanooga. Since we’ve worked there many times before, I knew that it had an industrial style with tons of wood and warm tones. This made me LOVE the shades of blue and organic garden-y style of floral design on Abigail’s pinterest board!
When we met, Abigail showed me some floral pillars she really liked the look of. So, with an industrial venue with lots of clean lines, I suggested that they be varying heights, organic-looking, and not too symmetrical or perfect. This style does wonders to break up stark or sharp details in a venue.
Abigail chose grounded floral aisle markers for the ceremony that could be repurposed as centerpieces at the reception. And she loved a more flowy, textured floral look for the bouquets. We sourced many of the flowers for the bouquets from a local flower farm, Creekside, who provides us with the most fresh and unique blooms we might not be able to get our hands on otherwise.

Reception Floral Design
The couple chose to flip the ceremony space into the reception because they loved the high ceilings and windows of the Turnbull’s 4th floor. So, guests went down to the 3rd floor for a cocktail hour. And since my husband and I also attended the wedding, my incredible team handled the flip. I went upstairs a few minutes early to peak in and make sure they didn’t need anything, and it looked spectacular.
As a musician himself, Janson’s one big request was a live band at the reception. So, when we looked at the stage being rented for the band, Danielle, the wedding planner, suggested doing a greenery installation on it instead of the more formal-looking stage facade. This 24′ long fully greened stage front, pared with the 7′ long hanging greenery installation over the dance floor offered the perfect wow factor! And since the stage was being hidden during the ceremony by drapery, this was a dramatic reception reveal.
The pillars from the ceremony could of course be moved, so those were repurposed as a photo spot. And we brought in tons of candles and bud vases to decorate other little areas like the bars are guest book table.
We truly LOVED getting to be a part of Abigail + Janson’s big day. There’s nothing like designing flowers for a friend’s wedding, and then experiencing all your hard work as a guest too. But this one was extra special because of the close relationship we have with the couple, and many of their friends/family, as well as loving all of Abigail’s style choses so much. I was proud to put the Lang Floral Designs stamp on this one for sure!
