Rebrand & Website Redesign for Flower Barn at Locust Pointe

Flower Barn at Locust Pointe

A Wedding Florist in Coastal New Jersey

I love sharing about the process of a project like this from start to finish. It gives me an opportunity to show you some of the designs that were left “on the cutting room floor”, and let you see inside the entire process of dialing into a brand’s true identity.

If you don’t know me, I’m Stephanie Lang, owner of The Lavender Vine in Chattanooga. I spent 10+ years as a wedding florist here in Tennessee before recently switching back to my original career path in graphic design…but this time, on my own terms. Earlier in my career, I worked for other companies. Now, I work for my own business, The Lavender Vine, helping other wedding pros and creatives through brandingweb design, and business coaching!

So follow along, as I share the basic steps of a Branding & Web Design Project with you:

1. Discovery Zoom

I met with Ulana over a 30-minute Zoom just to hear a little about her project needs, so I could give her an accurate quote.

2. Onboarding

After the meeting, I sent her a quote to review. We discussed options for the rebrand, since a full 3-concept rebrand was a bit outside of her budget. So, we settled on a slightly scaled down branding package, to leave room for a full redesign of her Wix website. After deciding what mix of services and add-ons Ulana wanted, I sent her an invoice to pay the deposit, and sign the contract.

3. Branding Discovery + Round 1

Ulana and I met again over Zoom for about an hour to talk more about her business, her brand identity, and meaningful elements that she wanted to see in her rebrand. We looked at some samples so I could get a better idea of her style, and talked colors as well.

Ulana’s original logo primarily contained a Dahlia as the imagery, and she share with me that the Dahlia flower was extremely important to her family’s history as flower farms (she grows Dahlias that have been in her family for generations…wow!). She liked that aspect of her single logo, however, felt it was time for a fresh design, and definitely noticed the need for a FULL branding package with multiple lock-ups rather than the limiting single logo she currently had.

Ulana also felt like a more subtle nod to the Dahlia might be the way to go.

Here was the original logo for Flower Barn at Locust Pointe:

Here is the first round of designs, including 2 separate concepts:

4. Review + Round 2

Upon reviewing the first round of designs, Ulana liked a few things about each. She loved the lavender sunset color pallet, but also gravitated toward the elevated feel of the navy. We tried a few color combinations, but ultimately chose lavender, light & navy blues and warm beiges for an unconventional triadic-style color pallet (using 3 colors in a triangle on the color wheel).

5. Final Files

Once the design was approved, I created her file package complete with vector files, PNG’s, JPEG’s, PDF’s, fonts, and a Branding Guide.

6. Website Design Meeting + Home Page Design

Now that the branding had been finalized, it was time to start discussing the website. Ulana already had a website in Wix and was familiar with it’s interface. So, we discussed her needs for her new website a bit, just so I could make sure Wix would still suffice. It would, so we met to discuss the reorganization of info, clarity, an easy user experience, and of course DESIGN!

7. Home Page review

After our meeting, I got to work created the back end design element of the website, until I had the HOME page to my satisfaction. I LOVED using all of Ulana’s branding icons through the page for a dynamic design!

I always like to get the clients feedback after the Home page is designed, just in case there is something with the overall look and feel they want to tweak. After showing her a few design variations, Ulana gave her feedback and I got the greenlight to proceed on the remaining pages.

8. Remaining website design

I completed to rest of the website, and allowed Ulana to review it again. After a few minor edits, it was ready to publish!

9. Publishing + Mobile Responsiveness

I published the website, tested everything out, and edited the mobile responsiveness, which is how it looks on different devices like phones and tablets.

You can check out the website for yourself HERE.

If you love this branding and website outcome for one of my clients, and envy one for yourself, I’d love to chat! If your current branding or website don’t feel like they truly reflect how excellent your work is, it might be time to hire a professional to walk you through a strategic refresh!
